Mysuru's annual Dasara procession will feature a new elephant carrying the golden howdah, a tradition that continues even after kings stopped riding in them in 1969. Abhimanyu, who carried the howdah for six years, will now serve as the flag elephant after turning 60. Prashantha has been selected as his successor to bear the howdah. The elephants undergo rigorous training, including carrying a wooden replica of the howdah weighing nearly 850 kg, to prepare for the procession.

मैसूर का वार्षिक दशहरा जुलूस इस बार सोने का हौदा लेकर एक नए हाथी पर निकलेगा। यह परंपरा तब से जारी है जब से राजाओं ने 1969 में खुद इन पर सवार होना बंद कर दिया था। छह साल तक हौदा लेकर चलने वाले अभिमन्यु अब 60 साल के होने के बाद झंडा हाथी के तौर पर सेवा देंगे। उनकी जगह हौदा ढोने के लिए प्रशांत को चुना गया है। जुलूस की तैयारी के लिए हाथियों को कड़ी ट्रेनिंग दी जाती है, जिसमें वे लगभग 850 किलो वजनी लकड़ी के हौदे की प्रतिकृति को उठाते हैं।
