France Deploys Extra Security Ahead Of Weekend Protests

French authorities are implementing heightened security measures to prevent a recurrence of violent protests that occurred last weekend. President Emmanuel Macron met with his defence council to discuss the situation, as cities like Paris, Marseille, and Lyon imposed curfews, banned gatherings, and restricted public transport. Police presence will increase by 20 percent compared to the previous weekend. Despite government efforts, student unions and the Yellow Vest movement have called for rallies, leading to criticism of restricted protest freedoms.
