At least 40 ultra-Orthodox Jewish men were arrested at Ben Gurion Airport on suspicion of evading Israel's mandatory military draft. This mass arrest is unusual in scale and occurs amid national debate over draft exemptions for the ultra-Orthodox community. The Supreme Court previously ruled that exemptions are invalid without new legislation, prompting calls for equality of service, especially after the attacks.
