Jaisalmer Farmers Resume Protest Over Inadequate Canal Water Supply

Times of India · india

Farmers in Jaisalmer's Indira Gandhi Canal command area have resumed their indefinite protest over insufficient irrigation water. They allege that despite assurances from irrigation officials, water is not reaching tail-end fields, jeopardizing standing crops. Farmers stated their allocated share of 1,800 cusecs is not being supplied, leading to crops drying up. They expressed disappointment over the absence of senior officials at the protest site. The farmers vow to continue their agitation until adequate water supply is restored to the Jaisalmer zone.
