BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao has accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of deliberately reducing Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) coal production to create demand for expensive foreign coal. He alleges this proposed procurement could amount to a ₹3,000 crore scam, potentially involving commissions of ₹1,500 per tonne. Rao demanded an independent probe into the proposed imports, calling for full disclosure of all related discussions, tender documents, and agreements. He also questioned the decline in SCCL's coal production and sought details on outstanding dues owed to the company.
