सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने उल्हासनगर की मेयर अश्विनी कमलेश निकम और सदन के नेता अरुण आशन की याचिकाएं खारिज कर दी हैं। उनकी याचिकाओं में उल्हासनगर नगर निगम के सात मनोनीत निगम पार्षदों की अधिसूचना पर बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट की अंतरिम रोक को चुनौती दी गई थी। शीर्ष अदालत ने याचिकाकर्ताओं को चार हफ्तों के भीतर निर्णय के लिए हाई कोर्ट जाने का निर्देश दिया। इस विवाद में मेयर द्वारा उम्मीदवारों की सिफारिश शामिल है, जिसमें भाजपा ने अपने दो मनोनीत सदस्यों को बाहर करने को चुनौती दी है।
