Teen's Dessert Fundraiser Rescues Over 300,000 Pounds Food

A Virginia teen's dessert fundraiser, started two years ago, has evolved into a youth-led project that has rescued over 300,000 pounds of food. Dhevesh Mahes formed the Nourishin Ninjas, a team of over 150 student volunteers, who now work with Anna Sudha Community Kitchens. They collect surplus food from local businesses and distribute it to families facing food insecurity across Northern Virginia.
