A devastating fire in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, claimed the lives of three family members while they slept. The victims included 56-year-old Balkishun, his 32-year-old son-in-law Jitendra Prasad, and their three-year-old grandson Shani. Balkishun's daughter, Leela, sustained severe burns covering an estimated 60%-70% of her body and is in critical condition. The blaze rapidly engulfed their thatched hut shortly after 2 am, leaving little chance for escape. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with a short circuit being a preliminary possibility.
