Kanchan Chander's 50-Year Artistic Journey Celebrated in Retrospective

An exhibition titled 'The Grammar of the Self' at Bikaner House showcases five decades of artist Kanchan Chander's evolving work. The retrospective features her journey from early self-portraits and figurative drawings to etchings, prints, mixed-media pieces, and recent geometric drawings. Chander described her evolution from a quiet, conscious person to a strong, opinionated woman, stating that her art reflects personal experiences like her brother's passing, marriage, and childbirth. Curator Kishore Singh noted her visual language is autobiographical yet not self-absorbed, highlighting her ability to transform personal experiences into art.

बीकानेर हाउस में 'द ग्रामर ऑफ द सेल्फ' नामक एक प्रदर्शनी में कलाकार कंचन चंदर के पांच दशकों के विकसित होते काम को दिखाया गया है। इस रेट्रोस्पेक्टिव में उनके शुरुआती आत्म-चित्रों और आलंकारिक रेखाचित्रों से लेकर एचिंग्स, प्रिंट्स, मिश्रित-मीडिया कृतियों और हाल के ज्यामितीय रेखाचित्रों तक की उनकी यात्रा को दर्शाया गया है। चंदर ने एक शांत, सचेत व्यक्ति से एक मजबूत, मुखर महिला बनने के अपने विकास का वर्णन किया, और कहा कि उनकी कला व्यक्तिगत अनुभवों जैसे उनके भाई की मृत्यु, विवाह और बच्चे के जन्म को दर्शाती है।
