Chennai Residents Face Delayed Power Meter Readings Despite TNPDCL Instructions

Times of India · india

Residents across Chennai are still complaining about delayed electricity meter readings, even after repeated directives from the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (TNPDCL). Consumers like Roy Rosario and P Bharathi report significant delays, which could lead to higher tariff slabs and loss of benefits like free units. This issue persists despite TNPDCL reassessing bills last month and detecting around 2,000 wrong assessments statewide. The corporation plans to outsource meter reading to private contractors, but tenders are yet to be floated, with engagement expected in at least a month.
