Court Tells Media TRP Not Everything

The Madras High Court has sternly remarked that there are more important things in life than TRP ratings. A judge made this observation while hearing a plea to stop television channels from broadcasting child sexual abuse material. The court issued an interim order restraining media and digital platforms from publishing or disseminating any videos related to the R. Veeramani case. It also directed immediate removal of any such content already uploaded. The court agreed to apply the 'John Doe' principle to protect minors.

कोर्ट ने मीडिया से कहा, टीआरपी ही सब कुछ नहीं

मद्रास हाई कोर्ट ने सख़्ती से कहा है कि टीआरपी रेटिंग से ज़्यादा ज़रूरी चीज़ें भी होती हैं। एक जज ने यह बात तब कही जब वे टीवी चैनलों को बच्चों के यौन शोषण से जुड़ी सामग्री प्रसारित करने से रोकने की याचिका सुन रहे थे। कोर्ट ने मीडिया और डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म को R. Veeramani मामले से जुड़े किसी भी वीडियो को प्रकाशित या प्रसारित करने से रोकने का अंतरिम आदेश जारी किया। इसने पहले से अपलोड की गई ऐसी किसी भी सामग्री को तुरंत हटाने का भी निर्देश दिया। कोर्ट ने नाबालिगों की सुरक्षा के लिए 'John Doe' सिद्धांत लागू करने पर सहमति जताई।
