Tasmania's fisheries service has concluded a 28-year effort to eradicate invasive common carp from Lake Sorell and Lake Crescent. Over 49,000 carp were removed, resulting in improved water clarity and the recovery of native marsh plants. The successful campaign has also led to a resurgence of wild brown trout, boosting recreational fishing and demonstrating that large lakes can be restored from invasive species.
