Yemeni Women Shift From Baking Cookies to Funding Weapons for City Defence

In Yemen's besieged city of Taiz, women have evolved their support for government forces. Initially organizing food deliveries and baking cookies for soldiers, these volunteers have now begun fundraising to purchase weapons and ammunition. This shift reflects the escalating conflict and the women's desire to contribute to their city's defence against Houthi fighters. The initiatives emerged spontaneously since fighting resumed in early September, aiming to strengthen the bond between civilians and the military defending Taiz against a tightening siege and restricted supplies.
