Chennai Police Install Advanced CCTV Cameras at Elliots Beach

The Hindu · india

Chennai police have installed four advanced CCTV cameras along Elliots Beach to enhance safety and monitor criminal activities. The high-speed cameras feature 360-degree rotation, superior zoom, and night vision capabilities, intended to deter bike racers and identify vehicle registration numbers. While police aim to build public confidence, local residents are divided, with some viewing it as an invasion of privacy and others accepting it for increased security. This initiative is part of a larger city-wide surveillance expansion, with plans for Marina Beach and other key locations.
