Tarpan and Pind Daan: Understanding the Differences

TV9 Hindi · spirituality

During Pitru Paksha, Hindus perform rituals like Tarpan and Pind Daan to honor ancestors. While often confused, these are distinct ceremonies. Tarpan involves offering water and black sesame seeds to satisfy ancestral thirst and provide spiritual peace. Pind Daan, on the other hand, uses offerings made of rice or flour shaped into balls, symbolizing a physical body, to aid the soul's journey towards liberation and provide sustenance. Both rituals aim to seek blessings and ensure the well-being of departed souls.
