Kerala Launches WOMN Scheme For Women's Travel Needs

Kerala's Women and Child Development department has launched WOMN – Women on the Move and Menstrual Needs – to ensure sanitary napkins are available to women in public places, especially during travel. Minister Bindhu Krishna inaugurated the initiative at a KSRTC bus terminal, emphasizing menstrual hygiene's importance for women's health and dignity. Initially, napkin vending machines and eco-friendly disposal incinerators will be installed at 14 KSRTC terminals, with each packet costing ₹10. The scheme, implemented with HLL Lifecare, aims to extend services to more public spaces and tourist destinations.

केरल के महिला एवं बाल विकास विभाग ने WOMN – Women on the Move and Menstrual Needs – की शुरुआत की है ताकि यह सुनिश्चित किया जा सके कि सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर महिलाओं के लिए सैनिटरी नैपकिन उपलब्ध हों, खासकर यात्रा के दौरान। मंत्री बिंदू कृष्णा ने KSRTC बस टर्मिनल में इस पहल का उद्घाटन किया और महिलाओं के स्वास्थ्य और गरिमा के लिए मासिक धर्म स्वच्छता के महत्व पर जोर दिया। शुरुआत में, 14 KSRTC टर्मिनलों में नैपकिन वेंडिंग मशीनें और पर्यावरण-अनुकूल निपटान इनसिनरेटर लगाए जाएंगे, जिनकी प्रत्येक पैकेट की कीमत ₹10 होगी। HLL Lifecare के साथ लागू की गई इस योजना का उद्देश्य अधिक सार्वजनिक स्थानों और पर्यटन स्थलों तक सेवाओं का विस्तार करना है।
