SBI Assesses Data Leak Impact, Alerts Cyber Insurance Provider

State Bank of India is investigating a suspected data breach after threat actors reportedly leaked customer data on the dark web. The bank has identified 3,897 customer records containing personally identifiable information, including names, mobile numbers, and loan application details. SBI has informed its cyber insurance provider, Oriental Insurance, about the incident and is assessing potential losses before filing a claim under its Rs 1,425-crore policy. An independent cybersecurity agency is also investigating the data security incident.
