Two Indian Nationals Indicted for Counterfeit Ozempic Smuggling

A U.S. federal grand jury has indicted two Indian nationals, Swapnadip Roy and Vicky Ramancha, for allegedly smuggling and selling counterfeit Ozempic. The scheme involved obtaining fake weight-loss drugs from China between July 2023 and April 2024 and selling them to U.S. distributors. This operation continued even after the FDA seized some counterfeit products and issued a warning. If convicted, the defendants face up to 71 years in prison for charges including smuggling and conspiracy.
