India ranks as the world's seventh most targeted country for cyberattacks and third in Asia, according to a senior Microsoft executive. Nicholas Butts, director of AI and cybersecurity policy at Microsoft, warned that artificial intelligence is already empowering criminals to conduct sophisticated ransomware and espionage campaigns. He highlighted specific AI-driven threats like the China-based Jadepuffer operation and Russian and Chinese state-sponsored espionage groups. Butts emphasized that these threats are immediate and not distant possibilities, impacting organizations worldwide.
