Smartphone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung are no longer including chargers in their phone boxes, citing that most users already own compatible adapters. This move aims to reduce packaging size and potentially lower transportation costs, which companies claim benefits the environment. However, experts suggest market economics also play a role, as consumers may need to purchase chargers separately for around ₹1,500. This trend is significant given India's growing electronic waste problem, which saw a substantial increase in 2023-24.
