The IndiaAI Mission has released three indigenous foundation models: EKA-1, Dhīr 2B, and Dhīr 5B. Developed by Soket Labs and ZenteiQ AiTech, these models represent a significant step in India's drive for homegrown AI capabilities. Dhīr 2B and 5B offer offline automation and services for sectors like defence and government, especially in low-connectivity areas. EKA-1, with 26.3 billion parameters, supports 22 Indian languages and English, focusing on banking and cybersecurity. The government highlighted how subsidised national AI compute infrastructure accelerated their development, showcasing public infrastructure's role in fostering innovation.
