SC Calls Cancer Drug Price Hike 'Daylight Robbery'

The Supreme Court has strongly condemned the vast price difference in essential cancer medicines, calling it 'daylight robbery'. A bench noted that a cancer drug costing retailers ₹2,700 is being sold with an MRP of up to ₹27,000. The court questioned how patients can be cheated and why authorities are silent. It also raised concerns about hospitals purchasing drugs at high prices and then claiming reimbursement from government schemes, ultimately using taxpayer money.
