Palm Valley School in Southern California has closed permanently after 74 years of operation, filing for bankruptcy and putting its 36-acre campus up for sale for $14 million. The school, founded in 1952, abruptly shut its doors in June, leaving parents and staff devastated. Administrators had previously assured families of the school's financial stability and even announced a financial gift that would allow it to remain open. However, the situation rapidly deteriorated, leading to the bankruptcy filing and closure, which a teacher described as devastating and based on false reassurances.
