6-Year-Old Girl Dies of Cerebral Malaria in Godda Village; Others Test Positive

A six-year-old girl has died of cerebral malaria in Merdande village, Godda district, with seven to eight other residents reportedly testing positive for the disease. Health authorities have intensified surveillance in the remote, hilly settlement, which is home to the Pahariya community. The girl was initially treated by an unqualified practitioner before her condition worsened after receiving an injection from another local practitioner. Medical teams are now regularly visiting the village, screening residents, distributing mosquito nets, and referring seriously ill individuals for treatment to prevent further spread.
