Filmmakers Face Uncertain Wait Over Union Ministry Ban

The Hindu · india

Documentary filmmakers are facing an uncertain wait for their films to be screened at the 18th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Keralam (IDSFFK). Eight films have not yet received censor exemption from the Union Information & Broadcasting Ministry. One film, 'Sanitised Republic: Cast(e) & Contracts', had its screening cancelled for the third consecutive festival after the Ministry objected to clips featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Another documentary, 'Parliament Street', was denied exemption due to apparent wrongful assumptions about its title.
