The right arm of the statue of Rani Channamma in Kittur, Karnataka, accidentally detached on October 19. The 50-foot tall equestrian statue, located at the town's entrance, is estimated to weigh over a tonne and was unveiled in 1997. Pro-Kannada groups are demanding the statue be repaired within three days, before the Kittur Utsav inauguration on October 23, with some calling for a complete replacement.
