Chandigarh Records Driest September in Three Years Amidst Subdued Monsoon

Chandigarh experienced its driest September in three years, recording 132.2 mm of rain, slightly above the normal figure of 131.4 mm. IMD officials attributed the subdued monsoon rains to active El Nino conditions and the early withdrawal of the monsoon on September 23. Despite this, the city recorded 710.8 mm of rain since June, which is 15.9% below normal but still considered normal by IMD standards. The month also saw the coldest September nights in 15 years, with the average minimum temperature dropping to 23.4°C.

चंडीगढ़ में पिछले तीन सालों में सबसे सूखा सितंबर दर्ज किया गया, जहाँ 132.2 मिमी बारिश हुई, जो सामान्य 131.4 मिमी से थोड़ी ज़्यादा है। IMD अधिकारियों ने कमजोर मानसून बारिश का कारण एल नीनो की सक्रिय स्थिति और 23 सितंबर को मानसून की जल्दी वापसी को बताया। इसके बावजूद, शहर में जून से अब तक 710.8 मिमी बारिश दर्ज की गई, जो सामान्य से 15.9% कम है, लेकिन IMD के मानकों के अनुसार अभी भी सामान्य मानी जाती है। इस महीने में पिछले 15 सालों में सबसे ठंडी सितंबर की रातें भी देखी गईं, जहाँ औसत न्यूनतम तापमान 23.4°C तक गिर गया।
