West Bengal Govt Plans Syllabus Revamp, Dropping 'Paani' and 'Abba'

West Bengal's government schools are set to revamp their Bengali language textbooks from 2027, replacing words like 'paani' and 'abba' with 'jol' and 'baba'. A committee appointed by the government has recommended this change as part of a broader syllabus overhaul. The new textbooks will also incorporate details on archaeological findings challenging Aryan migration theories and reduce content on Mughal rule and Marxist philosophy. Portions related to the previous government's initiatives and certain literary works have also been removed.

पश्चिम बंगाल के सरकारी स्कूलों में 2027 से बंगाली भाषा की पाठ्यपुस्तकों में बदलाव किया जाएगा, जिसमें 'पानी' और 'अब्बा' जैसे शब्दों की जगह 'जल' और 'बाबा' का इस्तेमाल होगा। सरकार द्वारा नियुक्त एक समिति ने व्यापक सिलेबस ओवरहाल के हिस्से के रूप में इस बदलाव की सिफारिश की है। नई पाठ्यपुस्तकों में आर्यन प्रवासन सिद्धांतों को चुनौती देने वाली पुरातात्विक खोजों का विवरण भी शामिल किया जाएगा और मुगल शासन व मार्क्सवादी दर्शन पर सामग्री कम की जाएगी। पिछली सरकार की पहलों और कुछ साहित्यिक कृतियों से संबंधित अंशों को भी हटा दिया गया है।
