सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने मेरठ और उसके आसपास के इलाकों में सभी अवैध निर्माणों को गिराने का आदेश दिया है। इसमें आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर वर्गों के घरों में अवैध विस्तार और सेटबैक क्षेत्रों में अतिक्रमण भी शामिल है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि समय बीतने से अवैधता ठीक नहीं हो जाती, और गैरकानूनी निर्माणों पर कार्रवाई जरूरी है। इस आदेश का मकसद शहर और आसपास के क्षेत्रों में भवन नियमों का पालन करवाना और अनधिकृत विकास को रोकना है।
