Two Siblings Drown in Surat Construction Site Pit; Family Accepts Bodies

Two young siblings, a three-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl, tragically drowned after falling into a water-filled lift pit at an under-construction building in Surat's Bhestan area. The children, whose parents are migrant workers, reportedly wandered into the unsafe area while their mother was cooking and their father was out. Relatives alleged negligence due to the lack of protective covers or barricading around the open shaft. After initial refusal demanding compensation and accountability, the grieving family accepted the bodies following police intervention and counseling.
