Business Standard · politics
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has refused to disclose details about the software used during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, citing commercial confidence and trade secrets. The poll body stated that no new software was developed or procured for the exercise. In response to an RTI application, the ECI invoked Section 8(1)(d) of the RTI Act, 2005, to withhold information regarding the software, application, algorithm, or AI platform used for identifying errors in voter records.
