Italian Court Convicts Egyptians For Regeni Kidnap

An Italian court has convicted three Egyptian security officials in absentia for the 2016 kidnapping of student Giulio Regeni. Regeni's tortured body was found days after his disappearance in Cairo. The three men were sentenced to 10 years in prison, while a fourth official was acquitted. Italian authorities stated they have been unable to determine the whereabouts of the accused. This verdict comes despite what prosecutors described as less than wholehearted cooperation from Egyptian authorities.
