An Afghan female cyclist, Fariba Hashimi, has won a silver medal at the Asian Games. Hashimi previously disguised herself as a man to pursue her cycling career in Afghanistan due to restrictions on women. She fled the country in 2021 after the Taliban returned to power. The 23-year-old's achievement in the women's road race follows her seventh-place finish in the individual time trial.
