Japan's Mars Moon Mission Aims to Bring Samples Home

Hindustan Times · science

Japan has launched a groundbreaking mission to bring back samples from Phobos, one of Mars' moons. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's MMX spacecraft, utilizing a new H-3 rocket, will spend three years studying Phobos. Scientists hope the five-year mission will reveal how the Martian moons formed and potentially shed light on the origins of life. This endeavor is significant as multiple Russian attempts to land on Phobos have previously failed, and Martian moons remain largely unexplored.
