Ex-bureaucrats demand scrapping of voter roll revision

A group of former bureaucrats has urged the Election Commission to scrap the special intensive revision of electoral rolls. In an open letter, the Constitutional Conduct Group stated that the exercise could undermine universal adult suffrage and damage the poll panel's reputation. They warned that the revision might make a mockery of India's democracy. This call comes amid opposition demands for the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner over alleged irregularities.
