Industry body ASSOCHAM has urged the government to introduce a one-time Customs amnesty scheme in the Union Budget 2027-28 to settle legacy disputes totaling approximately ₹1.5 trillion. The proposal includes waiving interest and penalties, with a graded reduction in disputed duty based on litigation age. ASSOCHAM also seeks priority for disputes involving countervailing duty and special additional duty, which were levied before the GST regime. The scheme aims to reduce litigation and free up business resources.

उद्योग मंडल ASSOCHAM ने सरकार से 2027-28 के केंद्रीय बजट में एकमुश्त सीमा शुल्क माफी योजना शुरू करने का आग्रह किया है ताकि लगभग ₹1.5 ट्रिलियन के पुराने विवादों का निपटारा किया जा सके। प्रस्ताव में ब्याज और जुर्माने की माफी शामिल है, जिसमें मुकदमेबाजी की उम्र के आधार पर विवादित शुल्क में क्रमिक कमी की जाएगी। ASSOCHAM ने जीएसटी व्यवस्था से पहले लगाए गए प्रतिसंतुलन शुल्क (countervailing duty) और विशेष अतिरिक्त शुल्क (special additional duty) से जुड़े विवादों को प्राथमिकता देने की भी मांग की है। इस योजना का उद्देश्य मुकदमेबाजी को कम करना और व्यावसायिक संसाधनों को मुक्त करना है।
