US Fed Proposes New Stablecoin Rules Under GENIUS

The US Federal Reserve has proposed new rules for issuers of dollar-backed cryptocurrency tokens, known as stablecoins, as part of the GENIUS Act. These proposals would establish requirements for supervised payment stablecoin issuers, including rules on reserves, capital, and risk management. Stablecoins must be fully backed by permitted reserve assets like US Treasury bills. The framework also extends to banks safeguarding stablecoin reserves and clarifies their permitted activities. A 60-day public comment period is open for these proposed regulations.

अमेरिकी फेडरल रिजर्व ने स्टेबलकॉइन के लिए नए नियम प्रस्तावित किए हैं। ये नियम डॉलर-समर्थित क्रिप्टो टोकन जारी करने वालों के लिए हैं। GENIUS Act के तहत, स्टेबलकॉइन जारी करने वालों को रिजर्व, पूंजी और जोखिम प्रबंधन के बारे में सख्त नियमों का पालन करना होगा। स्टेबलकॉइन को अमेरिकी ट्रेजरी बिल जैसी संपत्तियों से पूरी तरह समर्थित होना चाहिए। बैंकों के लिए भी नियम स्पष्ट किए गए हैं। इन प्रस्तावों पर 60 दिनों तक जनता अपनी राय दे सकती है।
