Kolkata's traditional Bonedi Bari Durga Pujas are upholding their centuries-old non-vegetarian customs, rejecting the 'vegetarian only' call by Bageshwar Baba. Families like the Sabarna Roy Chowdhury and Sobhabajar Rajbari Pujas, some over 200 years old, stated their traditions are deeply rooted and not dictated by outsiders. They emphasized their right to follow their own rituals and dietary practices during the festivities.

कोलकाता की पारंपरिक बोनेदी बारी दुर्गा पूजाएँ सदियों पुरानी मांसाहारी परंपराओं को निभा रही हैं। बागेश्वर बाबा के 'शाकाहारी ही' वाले आह्वान को उन्होंने ठुकरा दिया है। सबर्ण राय चौधरी और शोभाबाजार राजबाड़ी पूजा जैसी कई परिवार, जिनकी पूजाएँ 200 साल से भी पुरानी हैं, उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी परंपराएँ गहरी हैं और कोई बाहरी व्यक्ति उन्हें नहीं बता सकता कि क्या करना है। उन्होंने त्योहारों के दौरान अपने रीति-रिवाजों और खान-पान का पालन करने के अपने अधिकार पर जोर दिया।
