The Anti-Parminder Singh Murder Action Committee called the shutdown following Jhota’s killing. नशे के खिलाफ लड़ने वाले एक्टिविस्ट परमिंदर सिंह झोटा की हत्या के विरोध में बुलाया गया बंद पंजाब के मालवा क्षेत्र में काफी सफल रहा। बाज़ारों, प्राइवेट स्कूलों और कॉलेजों को बंद रखा गया, और कई जगहों पर हाईवे जाम कर दिए गए, जिससे पब्लिक ट्रांसपोर्ट में दिक्कत हुई। एंटी-परमिंदर सिंह मर्डर एक्शन कमेटी ने झोटा की हत्या के बाद इस बंद का आह्वान किया था। इंसाफ की मांग को लेकर तीसरे दिन भी प्रदर्शन जारी रहे, जिसमें राजनीतिक दलों और किसान संगठनों ने भी अपना समर्थन दिया।
