Guwahati Student Death: Lover Arrested in Case

Ashiq Ali, 26, has been arrested in connection with the death of 22-year-old Gauhati University student Nimisha Thakuria. Nimisha was found in critical condition at a Guwahati homestay on Saturday after telling her mother she was beaten. She was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Police are investigating Ali's claim that Nimisha hanged herself. The homestay where they stayed has been sealed due to alleged identity verification lapses.
