Indian Roller Birds Arrive at Kharghar Farms for Navratri

Indian roller birds, known as farmers' friends for their natural pest control abilities, have been sighted at farms in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, coinciding with the Navratri celebrations. Birders note that these birds typically arrive around Dussehra and Vijaydashami, staying until April. Their presence is considered auspicious and beneficial for local agriculture, as they prey on insects and small reptiles that emerge after monsoon rains and land tilling. Wildlife photographers are also drawn to the area to capture images of these vibrantly plumed birds.
