The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is dissolving 12 permanent committees, including those focused on human rights and gender issues, as part of a streamlining and cost-cutting initiative. The organization will now form ad hoc expert panels as needed for specific strategic priorities and policy development. This move leaves 19 committees in place and aligns with IOC President Kirsty Coventry's previous use of smaller working groups. The decision aims for more targeted engagement on key issues, moving away from larger, permanent commissions that typically met annually.
