Hindustan Times · business
Recent data reveals significant changes in how Indians utilize credit cards and personal loans. While credit cards are increasingly used for daily expenses like online shopping and dining, their overall share in unsecured credit has declined. Simultaneously, small ticket personal loans, often below ₹50,000, are gaining popularity for both planned and unplanned needs. Personal loan growth moderated to 12.9% by March 2026, yet they remain crucial, accounting for 30.7% of total bank credit. Digital lending platforms are further transforming the borrowing landscape by simplifying access and comparison of loan options.
