TNPDCL plans to hire additional contract workers to expedite the installation of smart meters and repair faulty distribution transformers. Each of the 45 electricity distribution circles can employ up to eight workers for a 60-day period. The corporation aims to install smart meters for all 60,000 low-tension current transformer services by the end of the month, having completed approximately 30% so far. These additional workers will also assist in repairing transformers, ensuring readiness for monsoon-related failures and maintaining timely power supply.
