TV Actress Arrested For Assaulting Friend

Chennai police have arrested 28-year-old TV actress Varshini Venkat for allegedly assaulting an acquaintance and extorting ₹5.5 lakh. Venkat and her friends invited the victim, a stock trader, to invest in a short film. When he refused, they assaulted him and extorted ₹50,000 cash. Subsequently, he transferred ₹3 lakh to Venkat and ₹2 lakh to her friend Sanjay. Despite paying, threats continued, demanding more money. Police confirmed the transactions and arrested Venkat, seizing an iPhone.
