Chennai's Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), B. Shamoondeswari, has attributed the rise in dangerous bike stunts to 'reel culture' popular among Gen Z. She highlighted a recent incident involving youths performing stunts, leading to arrests and seizure of vehicles without number plates. Shamoondeswari noted that the constant pursuit of content for social media platforms like Instagram encourages such risky behaviour. The conference also discussed accident statistics, with nearly 65% occurring on State and National Highways, prompting calls to investigate design and access issues.
