The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu police not to act like Procrustes, rejecting applications for RSS route marches by finding defects. Justice V Lakshminarayanan stated that authorities should process and approve applications rather than seeking reasons for rejection, as they have consistently done. The court noted that existing guidelines are being used to deny permission. The judge expressed hope that police would not reject applications, forcing organizers to approach the court again and consume judicial time.
