The Supreme Court has strongly objected to the closure of numerous Delhi metro stations and railway services in anticipation of a protest. CJI Surya Kant told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta not to use a hammer to kill a fly, questioning the disruption to the daily commute of millions. Mehta cited past protests where permission was for one day but lasted 17, causing injuries and internet shutdowns. The court ruled that peaceful protests should be allowed after assessing the area's geology, but public inconvenience must be avoided.
