APPCB Orders Closure of Two Nellore Prawn Units

The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has initiated the closure of two prawn processing units in SPSR Nellore district. Inspectors found these units releasing untreated wastewater into drains and burning solid waste, violating environmental norms. The Water Base Limited and Abaad Overseas Private Limited were found to be discharging wastewater without proper treatment, despite having Effluent Treatment Plants. This action follows a state-wide inspection ordered by Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan to strictly enforce environmental rules across 131 units.
