Bangladesh Minister: No Passport Needed For Ex-PM Hasina's Extradition

Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Humayun Kabir, stated that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will not be issued a passport or travel documents for her return from India. He clarified that Hasina would be brought back under the existing extradition treaty between Bangladesh and India. Kabir emphasized that passports are not required for extraditing terrorists and criminals, as the process involves handover by the other country. He noted a judicial warrant exists against Hasina, making a normal passport issuance unnecessary.

बांग्लादेश के विदेश राज्य मंत्री, हुमायूँ कबीर ने कहा कि पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना को भारत से वापस लाने के लिए पासपोर्ट या यात्रा दस्तावेज़ जारी नहीं किए जाएँगे। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि हसीना को बांग्लादेश और भारत के बीच मौजूदा प्रत्यर्पण संधि के तहत वापस लाया जाएगा। कबीर ने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि आतंकवादियों और अपराधियों के प्रत्यर्पण के लिए पासपोर्ट की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है, क्योंकि इस प्रक्रिया में दूसरे देश द्वारा सौंपना शामिल होता है। उन्होंने बताया कि हसीना के खिलाफ़ न्यायिक वारंट जारी है, जिससे सामान्य पासपोर्ट जारी करना अनावश्यक हो जाता है।
